Father and son arrested in operation indicated victims to a gang specialized in jewel thefts in Ribeirão Preto, says delegate

A father and son were arrested for allegedly identifying potential victims for a jewel theft gang in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil.

Bruno Rafael Ricci, 40, and his son Raphael Lucas Ricci, 21, were arrested during a police operation in Ribeirão Preto on Monday, and are being investigated for indicating potential victims to a specialized gang in jewel thefts. According to the Civil Police, the duo is linked to at least four robberies and is also under suspicion for money laundering. Nine motorcycles, including three luxury bikes, and a car were seized during the operation.

The investigation led by delegate André Baldochi revealed that the Ricci duo not only identified victims but also provided the weapons and motorcycles used in the crimes, as well as buying the stolen gold. This indicates an organized network where the father and son played crucial roles in facilitating the thefts by supplying essential resources to the gang, highlighting a deeper level of criminal involvement.

The arrests come as part of a larger effort by the Brazilian authorities to crack down on organized crime related to jewel thefts. By targeting individuals who assist in these crimes, law enforcement aims to disrupt the operations of gangs and reduce the prevalence of such thefts in Ribeirão Preto. The implications of this operation could lead to further investigations and arrests, potentially unveiling a broader network involved in similar criminal activities within the region.
