Operation by Gaeco and Civil Police in Ribeirão Preto targets gang specialized in bank robberies

A woman was arrested in Cravinhos, SP, on suspicion of being part of a gang specialized in bank robberies during a police operation in São Paulo.

In a collaborative operation between the Civil Police and the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) of the Public Prosecutor's Office, a gang specializing in bank robberies operating across various cities in São Paulo State was dismantled. Authorities indicated that the gang was preparing to execute a robbery in Cravinhos, illustrating their extensive planning and organization.

Giulio Chieregatti Saraiva, a prosecutor from Gaeco, revealed that concrete plans for the robbery in Cravinhos were identified; however, due to the police operation, this specific robbery was thwarted before it could take place. The investigation not only points to this planned attack but also suggests the gang had additional robbery intentions in the region that were similarly disrupted.

As part of the operation, 10 preventive arrest warrants and 24 search and seizure warrants were executed across several cities including Ribeirão Preto, Cravinhos, São Paulo, Embu das Artes, Taboão da Serra, and Jacareí. This significant police intervention highlights ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the state and ensure public safety from such criminal activities affecting local communities.
