A New VTT Report Was Expected from the Promising Donut Lab - Instead, We Got Something Completely Different

Donut Lab has unveiled its latest battery technology in a motorcycle application, showcasing a rapid charging capability of under ten minutes.

In its latest release, Donut Lab presented its revolutionary battery technology integrated into Vergeโ€™s electric motorcycle. This marks the first public demonstration of the battery's functionality in a vehicle context. The company boasts that their new 'wonder battery' offers exceptional performance, allowing for a quick charge of less than ten minutes for the motorcycle, a significant improvement over previous generations.

The battery pack, with a nominal capacity of 18 kilowatt-hours, is highlighted for charging three times faster than the older model used by Verge. Donut Lab's announcement emphasizes that while these preliminary results are impressive, further optimizations by Verge are expected to enhance performance even more. During tests, the motorcycle was charged using a public rapid charger, and initial measurements indicated that the battery temperature started at around 20 degrees Celsius.

This innovation from Donut Lab not only represents a technological advancement in electric motorcycle batteries but also has implications for the broader EV market as it addresses one of the key challenges: charging time. With the demand for faster charging solutions growing, Donut Lab's progress may contribute significantly to making electric motorcycles more accessible and practical for everyday use, potentially increasing the adoption of electric vehicles more widely in Finland and beyond.
