Danilo Júnior Aguilheira Mendes, a suspect in a homicide case, was shot and killed by police during a confrontation in Glória D’Oeste, Brazil. The police were acting on an anonymous tip that linked Mendes to a murder that occurred on March 8th, near a fire department base in Cáceres. Following the tip-off, police tracked Mendes down to a location approximately 304 kilometers from Cuiabá, the capital of Mato Grosso state.

During the police operation, officers from the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) discovered a revolver with five live rounds and a golden watch at the scene. Witnesses reportedly indicated that Mendes had fled to Glória D’Oeste to evade capture following the fatal incident. The police conducted searches in the area, leading to their encounter with Mendes near a football field, where he matched the description provided in the tip-off.
