Several hundred young people have started mandatory military service
Several hundred young Lithuanians have begun their mandatory military service in various battalions, where they will undergo training for nine months.
The Lithuanian army has announced that several hundred young men have begun their mandatory military service in different units, specifically in the Engineering Battalion, Air Defense Battalion, and Maritime Surveillance Unit. These young servicemen will undergo a nine-month training program where their initial days will focus on familiarizing themselves with the battalions' structures, internal regulations, and service conditions. They will be issued military uniforms and equipment, as well as introduced to their direct commanders and instructors.
During the first three months, recruits will take part in a basic training course. This mandatory course will cover essential tactical knowledge, topography, drill, engineering, first aid, and weapon handling, providing them with practical skills necessary for military service. The training is designed to equip them with foundational capabilities that will serve them throughout their military careers.
Upon completing their basic training, the recruits will be assigned to specific specializations according to their aptitude and training. They will then further develop their knowledge in their respective areas, learn to work as a team, and complete necessary tasks for their units. After finishing their service, these individuals will have the option to pursue a professional military career or transition into civilian life in Lithuania.
