Last Friday evening, on March 14th, a tugboat stranding in the Skulte port waterway was successfully pulled off the sandbank, as confirmed by Igor Akulovs, the port manager. The operation to free the tugboat from its predicament was organized by its owner, and it has been reported that there were no damages to the vessel's hull. It had been moored at the pier following the incident.

The Environmental State Office (VVD) also confirmed that there was no leakage from the tugboat after it was stranded on the sandbank near Skulte port. Divers inspected the tugboat, which had become stuck on the sandbank due to ice, and found no damages or leakages that might cause environmental pollution. Continuous monitoring of the situation is being conducted in close cooperation with the Skulte port administration, which provides timely updates about the ongoing situation.

Moreover, the port administration explained to the VVD that spots visible in photos on the water's surface were identified as being formed from the handling of wood and peat, which are typical materials associated with port operations. The local coast guard has also been informed, ensuring that all necessary parties are engaged in managing the situation effectively while safeguarding the environment.
