Military and police toured areas of Los Ríos to verify compliance with the curfew

Military and police conducted interventions in Los Ríos province as part of a curfew imposed by an executive decree.

In the cantons of Los Ríos province, military and police forces carried out operations during the first night of a curfew mandated by Executive Decree 239. Starting before 11 PM on Sunday, March 15, local businesses closed their doors to allow residents to return home in compliance with the mobility restrictions. The curfew is intended to limit free movement between the hours of 11 PM and 5 AM, necessitating a coordinated effort from law enforcement to ensure adherence.

Throughout the six-hour curfew period, military vehicles and police patrols patrolled several areas within the province, including Babahoyo, Quevedo, and Mocache. The law enforcement interventions also included monitoring areas affected by severe weather conditions, with officers conducting checks and interventions to maintain public safety. Amid the challenging circumstances, military personnel expressed readiness to assist individuals needing emergency help, particularly due to the adverse weather conditions.

This initiative highlights the Ecuadorian government's response to security and public safety concerns amidst significant weather events. The enforcement of the curfew not only aims to control the situation on the ground but also reflects broader issues relating to public order and the impact of climatic events on local communities.
