School near Umeå without water - remains closed

A school near Umeå has closed due to a lack of water, with local authorities working to resolve the issue.

Rödåsel school, located outside of Umeå, has been forced to shut its doors due to a complete lack of water. The Rödåsel water association, from which Vakin sources its water, is currently troubleshooting the issue to find out the cause of the water supply interruptions. In the meantime, Vakin has set up water tanks in the area to help provide residents with necessary water despite the disruption.

The school serves a total of 48 students who are now unable to attend classes as local authorities work to restore the water supply. Vakin has advised the residents of Rödåsel and Rödånäs that once water service is reinstated, they will need to boil the water before using it to ensure safety. This precautionary measure indicates that the water supply may have faced contamination or other issues during the disruption, further complicating the situation for both residents and the school.

As it stands, there is no definitive timeline for when the water will be restored or when the school will be able to reopen. The ongoing investigation into the water supply failure may also lead to further regulatory or safety checks in the area, which could impact not only the school but also the local community at large as they navigate this temporary crisis.
