Sami high school affected by leak

A sprinkler system was activated in a technical room at the Sami high school in Kautokeino, causing significant leaks in the northern part of the building.

A sprinkler system was triggered in the technical room of the Sami high school and reindeer husbandry school in Kautokeino, Norway, leading to substantial water leaks in the northern section of the building. Anna Solveig Gaup Sara, the interim principal, informed NRK about the situation, emphasizing the severity of the water damage.

Currently, the cause of the sprinkler activation remains under investigation, with initial reports indicating overheating, although there is no confirmation of open flames being involved in the incident. This lack of information complicates the situation further as the school community awaits clarity on the incident.

Restverdiredning (RVR) from Alta has been deployed to assist, focusing on pumping out the water to mitigate the damage done to the school's infrastructure. The incident raises concerns about safety protocols in educational facilities, particularly in areas prone to such technical malfunctions, and the school’s ability to swiftly respond to emergencies.
