A good news for travelers on these train routes: tickets can be purchased for almost half the price
Dynamic pricing on select train routes will allow travelers to buy tickets up to 40% cheaper than usual.
The introduction of dynamic pricing on certain Lithuanian train routes aims to provide commuters with significant savings on ticket purchases, allowing discounts of up to 40%. As departure times approach and the train's occupancy increases, prices may rise incrementally, possibly reaching up to 10% above the standard fare. This pricing model is designed to better match ticket prices with current demand, ultimately benefiting both travelers and the train operators.
Dynamic pricing, as employed by ‘LTG Link’, adjusts ticket rates based on various factors such as demand and seasonality, allowing the company to optimize train capacity and respond more effectively to travel patterns. This strategy not only helps maximize revenue during peak travel times but also incentivizes early purchases, giving travelers the chance to secure lower fares before prices rise. This could lead to increased customer satisfaction and more efficient train usage.
Additionally, while this new pricing model is introduced, all existing discounts and concessions—such as those for students and individuals with disabilities—will still apply. This means that tickets may end up being even cheaper when combined with these reductions. For instance, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė route, the price could drop to €1.56 for eligible passengers if a 50% discount is applied, demonstrating a commitment to making train travel more accessible and affordable for a wider audience.
