Suspected notorious cultist arrested in Ondo
A suspected cult leader, Akinwale Tomiwa, has been arrested in Ondo for his alleged involvement in cult activities and the murder of a student.
The Ondo State Police Command has announced the arrest of Akinwale Tomiwa, a suspected cult leader known locally as Bella, in connection with various cult-related offenses, primarily linked to the Eiye Confraternity operating around Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo. According to the police, Tomiwa had been on their wanted list due to his notorious reputation in the region and is believed to have played a role in the recent murder of a student from the institution, identified as Ojo Peter.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that the arrest was made by the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, who acted upon actionable intelligence that led them to the suspect. The arrest signifies a critical step in the authorities' ongoing efforts to combat cultism and related violence in the state, which has been a growing concern for local communities and educational institutions alike.
