Liepaja hockey players achieve second victory in the OHL playoffs
The Liepaja hockey team secured their second victory in the Optibet Hockey League playoffs by defeating the Tallinn Panthers 5-2.
On Sunday, the Liepaja hockey team recorded their second win in the first round of the Optibet Hockey League (OHL) playoffs. Competing against the Tallinn Panthers, Liepaja achieved a solid 5-2 victory on the road, bringing their series lead to 2-0, as the playoffs are a best-of-five format. The game began with the home team taking an early 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Andre Linde and Rasmus Kiik. However, the Liepaja players responded swiftly with a goal from Gustav Krūmiņš that narrowed the gap to one goal.
In the second period, Liepaja leveled the score at 2-2 midway through the period when Daniel Anderson scored during a power play. Shortly after, Kristers Kuzņecovs put Liepaja in the lead at 3-2, showcasing the team's resilience and attacking power. The third period saw further dominance from the Liepaja players, with goals from Kārlis Ozoliņš and Dominiks Sadausks, ensuring a comfortable victory for the visitors.
