Panther, strong at the start, lost the second game in the quarter-finals
Estonian hockey club HC Panter lost their second quarter-final match against HK Liepaja with a score of 2-5.
In an intense match, Estonian hockey team HC Panter faced off against HK Liepaja in the second quarter-final of the Optibet Ice Hockey League. The game started positively for Panter, who led 2-0 in the first period, thanks to goals from players Andre Linde and Rasmus Kiik. However, by the end of the first period, Liepaja managed to score, reducing the deficit to 2-1 as they went into the break.
The second period saw changes in momentum as Liepaja took control of the game, scoring two goals to take a 3-2 lead by the end of the second period. In the final third period, Liepaja extended their lead to 4-2. In a last-ditch effort, Panter pulled their goalie to score, but Liepaja took advantage of the empty net to secure the victory with a final score of 5-2. Finnish goalie Eetu Nieminen played a crucial role in the game for Panter, making 37 saves.
The third match of the best-of-five quarter-final series will be held at the Liepaja ice hall on March 17 at 18:30. With this loss, Panter faces an uphill battle in the series as they attempt to stay in contention for advancement to the next round.
