Construction of Passarão will block the return of Avenida Coronel Teixeira in Manaus starting Tuesday (17)
Construction on the Passarão viaduct project will cause a block on Avenida Coronel Teixeira in Manaus, affecting traffic returns near a supermarket.
Starting Tuesday (17), traffic on Avenida Coronel Teixeira in Manaus will face interruptions due to the construction of the Passarão viaduct project. This construction will specifically block the return direction close to a local supermarket, which is a busy junction for residents. The ongoing work aims to improve the overall traffic situation in the area by connecting Avenida Coronel Teixeira with Avenida Brasil.
The Passarão project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the neighborhoods of Compensa, Santo Agostinho, and Nova Esperança, where approximately 13,500 vehicles encounter delays during peak hours. This project is significant as it honors José Ferreira de Oliveira, the founder of the Chibatão Group. To compensate for the construction inconveniences, the Municipal Urban Mobility Institute (IMMU) has planned to enable a new return option at the traffic light near the supermarket that currently lacks this routing possibility.
Traffic agents will be deployed to provide guidance to drivers in the area during this period. The IMMU encourages drivers to remain vigilant toward the temporary signals and heed instructions from traffic personnel. This initiative marks an important step towards improving mobility in congested zones and enhancing daily traffic flow for thousands of commuters in Manaus.
