In the latest round of the TV10 Olympic Start athletics series in Estonia, a new generation of young athletes broke longstanding records, including the impressive performances of 13-year-old Adeele Lehismets.
The 55th season of the TV10 Olympic Start series continued with its second stage at the Lasnamäe athletics hall, where exciting performances from young athletes captivated the audience. Notably, 13-year-old Adeele Lehismets, representing Kindluse School, dominated the older age group by winning the smooth sprint and followed it up with a spectacular victory in the 60-meter hurdles. Her time of 9.09 seconds in the hurdles final was only surpassed by Anna Maria Millend in the series' history, signalling a significant moment for this rising star.
Adeele credited her success to her mother, Mirjam Lehismets, who holds the Estonian record in the 100-meter hurdles. The narrative of her performance highlights the passing of the baton from seasoned athletes to the next generation and the excitement surrounding their achievements in a competition that was established to nurture young talents.
In the younger boys' competition, 12-year-old Art Aleksander Tatter from Tallinna Reaalkool also made headlines by winning the 60-meter hurdle event with a time of 9.40 seconds. His triumph adds to the narrative of youth excellence in Estonian athletics, encouraging young competitors to raise their game. As the series progresses, the accomplishments of these young athletes are likely to inspire their peers and further fuel youth sports in the region.
