Soludo’s wife kicks off vocational training for women
The wife of the Anambra State governor has launched a vocational training program aimed at empowering women with skills in male-dominated fields.
Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State governor, has initiated the ‘Anambra Skilled Ladies Training Programme,’ aimed at providing women in the state with vital skills in traditionally male-dominated professions. This program, launched during a ceremony at the SSG Conference Hall in Awka, is an initiative of her 'Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative' and seeks to challenge professional stereotypes by empowering women economically through technical skills training.
The vocational program is designed to help young women gain high-demand skills that can lead to lucrative job opportunities, shifting the narrative around women's roles in the workforce. During her address at the launch, Nonye emphasized the merit-based selection of participants, urging them to fully utilize this opportunity to enhance their skills and prospects for future employment. She framed the event as a significant milestone in promoting women's empowerment within the region.
This initiative not only underscores the government's commitment to gender equality and economic empowerment but also aligns with global efforts to uplift women in various sectors. By breaking down traditional barriers and offering practical training, the program has the potential to catalyze change, encouraging more women to enter fields where they have been historically underrepresented, ultimately contributing to broader community development and economic growth in Anambra State.
