Gallery: The Spring Exhibition of the Estonian Artists' Union Takes Place This Year in Five Galleries

The Estonian Artists' Union's annual spring exhibition features works from 437 artists across five galleries, aiming to showcase the diversity of art.

The annual spring exhibition "Kevadnäitus 2026" of the Estonian Artists' Union (EKL) has expanded in scope this year, being held simultaneously in several exhibition venues. The exhibition was inaugurated last Friday evening in the EKL's galleries in the old town and at the Lasnamäe Pavilion. This year, 437 artists submitted works to the exhibition, from which a jury selected pieces by 153 individual artists and collectives.

The EKL and the Tallinn Art Hall are inviting the public to visit the spring exhibition at the Lasnamäe Pavilion, as well as in their old town galleries: Draakoni, Hobusepea, Hop, and Vabaduse galleries. This marks the first time since the early 2000s that the spring exhibition is taking place in the old town galleries. Organizers aimed to provide more opportunities for artists and to display the diversity of artistic expressions.

Traditionally, the spring exhibition has focused primarily on painting and graphic arts, but this year, the organizers encouraged the inclusion of glass, ceramics, and textiles, mixing these art forms throughout the galleries. The Hop gallery, for instance, which has previously focused on applied arts, aims to blend different artistic mediums for a richer cultural experience, reflecting a shift towards broader representations of contemporary art in Estonia.
