Gallery: the union of painters opened the annual exhibition in Pärnu

The annual exhibition "Ideal Landscapes" showcasing works by over 100 artists was opened at the Pärnu Museum of New Art.

The Pärnu Museum of New Art has launched the annual exhibition titled "Ideal Landscapes," which highlights the diversity and richness of ideals through the works of more than 100 artists. The exhibition, curated by Jaan Elken, aims to reflect on the contrast between our industrializing environment and the diminishing untouched nature available to everyone. Elken emphasized that as the world becomes more industrial, landscape painting has taken on a more central role in contemporary art discussions both in Estonia and internationally.

Against the backdrop of uncertain global affairs and anxious times, Elken noted that landscapes serve as a secure subject in artistic expression. They facilitate a wide array of associations, interpretations, and allusions, making them pertinent in both local and global contexts. The exhibition invites viewers to explore the implications of landscape art in a world that is rapidly changing and increasingly dominated by industrialization.

The exhibition will remain open until May 24, allowing ample opportunity for art enthusiasts and the general public to engage with this thought-provoking collection. Through this event, the union of painters not only presents their artistic visions but also fosters a discussion on the state of nature and art in a modern context, reflecting both local sentiments and broader ideological concerns.
