Biatlete Volfa finishes in the TOP10 for the first time in World Cup competitions. Key events
Latvian biathlete Estere Volfa achieved her first-ever TOP10 finish in a World Cup event, placing 10th amid strong competition.
During a competition in warm spring weather, French athlete Julia Simon won the race, finishing just 2.9 seconds ahead of Italian biathlete Lisa Vittozzi, while fellow French competitor and World Cup leader Lou Jeanmonnot completed the podium 20 seconds after Simon. All three top finishers shot accurately without any mistakes. Latvian team leader Baiba Bendika struggled with three shooting errors, resulting in her 56th place finish, while teammate Elza Bleidele faced challenges as well, completing four penalty laps to finish 83rd out of 104 competitors. Volfa finished 10th, 1 minute and 7.5 seconds behind the winner, which marks a significant achievement given her health issues leading up to the race. After the event, Volfa expressed her disbelief at this accomplishment in an interview with Latvian Television, considering her health had been less than ideal.
