Disruption at S-Bank – Due to Denial of Service Attack
S-Bank is experiencing service disruptions attributed to a denial of service attack, preventing many users from accessing the mobile application and website.
S-Bank is currently facing significant disruptions as users are unable to access both the mobile application and the bank's website, primarily due to a denial of service attack. Nearly 1,000 disruption reports have been filed on the Downdetector website, highlighting the widespread impact of this issue among S-Bank customers. Despite these disturbances, card payments remain operational according to communications manager Piia Bertényi.
Bertényi confirmed that the source of the disruptions stems from a targeted denial of service attack, which has been reported to the authorities. The bank is actively working to restore its services to normal as quickly as possible, although Bertényi noted the uncertainty regarding when normal service might resume, stating that such situations are typically resolved quickly.
Earlier on Friday, other banks such as Säästöpankki, Oma Säästöpankki, and Pop-pankki also announced similar issues on their websites, indicating a broader trend of disruption within the Finnish banking sector. This incident raises concerns about security vulnerabilities in digital banking services and highlights the importance of robust cybersecurity measures to protect users' access to their financial services.
