Ralf Friberg, a Finnish journalist and former MP, has passed away at 89 years old after a long illness.

Ralf Friberg, a prominent Finnish journalist and former member of parliament, has died at the age of 89 in his home in Tammisaari, as confirmed by his daughter Monica Friberg-Välimäki. His passing comes after a prolonged battle with illness. Friberg's contributions to journalism spanned several decades, during which he held significant positions, including editor of Östra Nyland and news chief at Yle, as well as editor-in-chief at Iltalehti.

Friberg's political career began when he was elected to the Finnish Parliament as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1970, serving until 1979. Aside from his journalistic endeavors, he also represented Finland on an international stage as the ambassador to Greece from 1992 to 1995 and to Denmark from 1995 to 2001. His extensive experience in both journalism and politics has left a lasting impact on Finnish society.

Married to Senny Britt-Marie Liewendahlin since 1956, Friberg was a devoted family man who raised three children. His death marks the end of a notable chapter in Finnish media and public service, reflecting on his legacy that influences future generations in journalism and politics.
