A flight chartered with 118 Haitian passengers was held at Viracopos International Airport for ten hours due to the discovery of falsified humanitarian visas. The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) has highlighted that this instance is part of a broader trend, with three operations each week bringing approximately 600 Haitians from their homeland, which is currently experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis. Most of these migrants arrive in Brazil with valid immigration documents, with only occasional cases being denied entry due to discrepancies in documentation.

The PF's intervention on this occasion was primarily due to the fraudulent nature of the visas presented by the passengers. Following the investigation, the airline responsible for the flight, Aviación Tecnológica S.A. (Aviatsa), was required to return the Haitians to their point of origin, highlighting the importance of proper documentation in international migration.
