The viaduct above the A2 road will be renovated: traffic restrictions reported
The renovation of a viaduct on the A2 highway in Lithuania will start in late March 2024, funded by a public contract, and is expected to be completed by summer 2027.
A contract has been awarded to the company 'Tilsta' for the reconstruction of a viaduct located on one of Lithuania's busiest highways, the A2. This project, estimated to cost over 3 million euros excluding VAT, aims to enhance road safety and infrastructure. Scheduled to commence in the second half of March 2024, following a technological break, the renovation work is set to be completed by summer 2027.
The Lithuanian Minister of Transport, Juras Taminskas, emphasized the importance of this project in the broader context of improving the safety and comfort of the country's road infrastructure. The reconstruction of the viaduct is a significant step towards reducing the list of bridges and viaducts in poor condition, which directly impacts traffic safety. This year has been designated as the year for the repair of bridges and viaducts across Lithuania, which highlights the government's commitment to investing in the country's infrastructure.
Taminskas further pointed out that each renovated bridge or viaduct contributes to safer traffic conditions and brings tangible benefits to the public, particularly for those who commute to work or travel to visit family. By consistently investing in the renewal of these structures, Lithuania aims to address current infrastructure challenges while enhancing the overall reliability of its road network, thereby fostering a safer driving environment for all road users.
