Metro stations in BH will be closed this weekend
Four metro stations in Belo Horizonte will be closed this weekend for the implementation of a new signaling system.
This weekend, specifically on March 14 and 15, four metro stations in Belo Horizonte will be closed due to the introduction of a new signaling system. The affected stations are Horto Florestal, Santa Inês, José Cândido da Silveira, and Minas Shopping. The closure is necessitated by tests being conducted on the section between Minas Shopping and Horto, which are crucial for enhancing the operational safety and efficiency of the metro system.
While these stations will be non-operational, the remaining sections of the metro will continue to run normally. Passengers can still use the trains between Novo Eldorado and Santa Tereza and between Vilarinho and São Gabriel, with service times reflecting standard weekend schedules. On Saturdays, intervals between trains will be 7.5 minutes during peak morning hours and will extend to 15 minutes thereafter. Sundays and holidays will see a consistent frequency of 15 minutes throughout the day.
The implementation of the new signaling system is a significant step for Metrô BH, aiming to improve the overall reliability and safety of the metro service. Such upgrades are essential as the population of Belo Horizonte grows and public transport needs evolve, ensuring that the metro can meet the demands of its passengers effectively.
