Two metro stations in BH will be closed this weekend; see which ones

The Vilarinho and Minas Shopping metro stations in Belo Horizonte will be closed this weekend for the installation of a new signaling system.

This weekend, the Vilarinho and Minas Shopping metro stations in Belo Horizonte will close on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate the installation of a new signaling system. The current signaling system will be turned off during this time to enable the necessary tests for the new functionalities. According to the city of Belo Horizonte (PBH), the new system aims to enhance efficiency, safety, and regularity in the operations of trains and rail vehicles.

While the two stations are closed, the remaining stations on the Belo Horizonte metro line will operate according to their regular weekend schedules. On Saturdays, trains will run every 7.5 minutes from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM and at 15-minute intervals afterward. Sundays and holidays will also see trains running every 15 minutes throughout the day, helping to ensure continued service despite the closures.

In addition to the metro service adjustments, the Superintendence of Mobility of Belo Horizonte (SUMOB) will be reinforcing bus lines in the surrounding areas. This effort aims to improve the public transportation offerings and ensure that users experience increased comfort and accessibility while these essential upgrades to the metro system are underway.
