Cheongju City has announced a forthcoming event, the '2025 Strawberry Popup Festa', scheduled for April 4-5 at the Cheongju Agricultural Technology Center. The festival will allow attendees to purchase strawberries directly from local producers at prices lower than market rates. Activities planned include making strawberry keychains, live street performances, and a dessert contest featuring strawberry-themed creations. During the event, coupons for strawberry picking experiences will be distributed through raffles and giveaways, in addition to a marketplace showcasing other agricultural products and processed goods from the region.

The local strawberry production is significant in Cheongju, with about 94 farms participating in the Cheongju Strawberry Research Association, producing around 850 tons of strawberries annually from approximately 60 hectares of farmland. Cha Hee-yeol, the Horticultural Crop Team Leader at Cheongju Agricultural Technology Center, expressed hopes that the festival will help promote Cheongju strawberries further and expand their market reach.

In addition to the festival, Okcheon County is providing strawberry farm visits as part of the Dream Start program, aimed at offering integrated services to vulnerable children. On April 14, around 80 children and their families from the Dream Start initiative will visit a strawberry farm in Nonsan, Chungnam, where they will participate in strawberry harvesting and cake-making activities. This program reinforces community ties and encourages children to engage with local agricultural practices through hands-on experiences.
