Spring is advancing rapidly now
A new monthly forecast predicts warm spring weather to continue throughout March, with thinning snowfall in the coming weeks.
In the latest blog by Foreca, the weather forecast indicates that temperatures during the week starting March 16 may be 3โ6 degrees Celsius warmer than usual for this time of year. The end of the week is expected to be mild but windy, with potential stormy conditions over the Gulf of Bothnia on Friday and early Saturday. In southern and central parts of Finland, temperatures could range from 5โ10 degrees Celsius, while Lapland and Northern Ostrobothnia may experience slightly below freezing temperatures.
There are expectations of intermittent rain across western and northern Finland, with possibilities of rain, snow, and sleet. The western coast may face the first spring flood peak, and in Ostrobothnia, water levels could rise to the average flood level. Next week, a mild southwesterly wind is predicted to maintain temperatures above the usual for this time of year, creating a juxtaposition between the high-pressure area in Russia and low-pressure systems over the North Atlantic and Arctic seas.
This weather pattern signifies an early arrival of spring-like conditions, which can have various implications for agriculture, transportation, and potential flood risks in the affected areas. As warmer temperatures take hold, stakeholders in sectors such as farming and emergency services should remain vigilant regarding the forecasted weather changes and their possible impact on local ecosystems and communities.
