Spring Flower Full Bloom Nando Festival…Meihua in Gwangyang, Sansuyu in Gurye

The Nando region is celebrating the start of its vibrant spring flower festival season, featuring the 25th Gwangyang Maehwa Festival and the 27th Gurye Sansuyu Flower Festival.

The Nando region in South Korea is welcoming the arrival of spring with its vibrant flower festivals, beginning with the 25th Gwangyang Maehwa Festival running from March 13 to 22. This year’s festival, themed 'The Plum Blossom: Blooming Unfading Light through Four Seasons,' will include various activities such as traditional cultural events, media art displays, and hands-on experiences for visitors. The festival will kick off with a memorial ceremony for a local cultural figure, and attendees can enjoy art exhibitions showcasing the beauty of plum blossoms alongside unique media art displays.

In addition to visual art, the Gwangyang Maehwa Festival will offer interactive experiences at various venues including the Gam Village Community Center, which will host traditional farming practice demonstrations. The festival alsowill include free photography services set against beautiful calligraphy backgrounds and traditional archery activities with prizes. A small fee increase for entrance has been implemented, though festival-goers can receive a full refund of the entry fee in local product vouchers to promote spending at the festival.

The 27th Gurye Sansuyu Flower Festival will follow from March 14 to 22, featuring a theme centering on 'Eternal Love and Yellow Excitement,' which ties into the romantic aspects of the flower associated with love. Activities include creating a 'Tunnel of Light and Love' where visitors can write their wishes, and an opening performance featuring local artists will set the festive mood. These festivals not only showcase the natural beauty of the region but also aim to promote local culture and tourism.
