Couple from Poá held on cruise in Dubai disembarks in Guarulhos

A couple from Poá, São Paulo, disembarked at São Paulo International Airport after being stranded on a cruise ship in Dubai due to escalating conflicts in the Middle East.

A couple from Poá, located in the Greater São Paulo region, has finally returned to Brazil after being stranded on the MSC Euríbia cruise ship in Dubai since February 28. Their predicament began when ongoing conflicts in the Middle East caused flights to be suspended or operate under severe restrictions, leaving them stuck on the ship as it remained docked. Tathiana Suwaki Amorim and her husband Cristian de Amorim found themselves in a precarious situation as they faced uncertainty regarding their return home amidst the volatile circumstances.

On Saturday, March 7, they managed to secure a repatriation flight to Spain. However, this too was fraught with challenges; after disembarking the cruise ship, they were informed by the airline that their flight to Barcelona was canceled due to a bomb incident near Dubai airport. This shocking turn of events forced them to endure further delays at the airport, which was closed for all arrivals and departures. The couple, along with many other passengers including elderly and children, faced a confusing and stressful situation as their boarding gate was changed multiple times.

Eventually, the couple successfully navigated the chaos at the airport and managed to board a flight after shifting schedules and gates. Their experience highlights the impacts of regional conflicts on international travel and the challenges faced by travelers caught in such scenarios. Their return marks a significant relief not only for them but also for their family and community, which was closely following their ordeal during the crisis in the Middle East.
