Alciele de Almeida Alencar, a 31-year-old woman from Tomé-Açu in the northeast region of Pará, Brazil, has been confirmed brain dead after ten days in the hospital following a severe beating from her partner. The family confirmed the tragic news, which spotlights the rising cases of domestic violence in the area. Alciele was hospitalized at the Hospital Metropolitano de Urgência e Emergência in Ananindeua after sustaining a traumatic brain injury during the assault.

According to the Civil Police, the violence erupted after a discussion in a local bar where the accused, identified as Pedro do Nascimento Santana Júnior, allegedly struck Alciele with a beer can. Following this altercation, Alciele attempted to leave on a motorcycle taxi, leading to a dangerous pursuit by her partner. Witnesses reported that during the chase, he persistently approached the motorcycle until he caused an accident, resulting in both Alciele and the motorcyclist falling to the ground and exposed to subsequent violence.
