Police seize large quantity of drugs in Juá and present suspects at UIP Santarenzinho

The Pará Military Police seized a significant amount of drugs in Juá, Santarém, leading to the arrest of an adult and a minor.

The Military Police of Pará conducted an operation resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics in the Juá community located in the western region of Santarém. The operation led to the apprehension of two suspects, one being an adult and the other a minor, who were subsequently taken to the Integrated Police Unit (UIP) in Santarenzinho. This action reflects the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in the region.

According to Police Chief Tiago Rabelo, the adult suspect faces charges of drug trafficking as well as corruption of a minor, while the minor is being processed for an infraction akin to drug trafficking. The operation unfolded after a proactive approach by the Military Police, showcasing their role in addressing drug issues that plague local communities. The drugs seized included substances characteristic of cannabis and various forms of cocaine derivatives, indicative of a broader drug trafficking operation in the area.

Despite the preliminary identification of the seized drugs, Chief Rabelo indicated that a complete counting and weighing of the narcotics was still underway during the press briefing. The presence of these substances not only highlights the challenges faced by local authorities in maintaining public safety but also underscores the critical need for community support in addressing the pervasive drug problem. This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing struggle against drug crime in Brazil, raising questions about youth involvement in such activities and the broader social implications of drug trafficking.
