Evenes Air Station Has Received New Drone Air Defense
Evenes Air Station in Norway has now operationalized a new drone defense system as part of enhancing the country's drone defense capabilities.
Evenes Air Station has become the latest facility in Norway to operationalize a new drone air defense system, which is part of the government's strategic initiative to enhance protection against drone threats. Norwegian Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik highlighted the implementation of this system as a key priority in their drone strategy announced last December. The system, installed in collaboration with Operational Solutions Ltd., the military, and related defense entities, is designed to detect, identify, and neutralize drones that pose potential risks to national security.
The drone defense system at Evenes is identical to the one previously set up at Ørland Air Station, reflecting a standardized approach in enhancing the air defense capabilities across various military installations in Norway. The installation emphasizes the urgent need to address potential drone threats, which have become increasingly prevalent in modern security paradigms. Defense Material Agency representatives reiterated the importance of establishing robust anti-drone capabilities as essential for contemporary air defense frameworks.
The contractual agreement with Operational Solutions Ltd. was established in August 2025, indicating an ongoing commitment to advance Norway's defense technology. With more deliveries anticipated in the future, this initiative not only strengthens national defense but also reinforces Norway's strategic readiness against emerging threats, reflecting a proactive stance in military technology and national security policy.
