Estonian top swimmers start the season at international competitions

Estonian swimmers are launching their competitive season at international events, starting with the Lausanne Swim Cup in Switzerland.

As the swimming season gains momentum, several Estonian national team members are set to compete in international competitions worldwide starting in March. Notable athletes like reigning short-course European champion Ralf Tribuntsov and multiple title finalist Daniel Zaitsev will take part in the Lausanne Swim Cup, taking place in Switzerland from March 13-15. They will compete in various disciplines including the 50-meter freestyle, butterfly, and backstroke events.

In Lausanne, the Estonian swimmers will face off against top European sprinters, including Olympic and World Championship medalist Noe Ponti from Switzerland, multiple world champion Maxime Grousset from France, and Italy’s Olympic champion and world record holder Thomas Ceccon. This event will serve as a significant benchmark for Tribuntsov and Zaitsev as they aim to test their sprinting techniques against a strong international field.

Following their participation in Switzerland, Tribuntsov and Zaitsev will head to Paris for the Giant Open 2026, scheduled for March 20-22. Their primary objective during these competitions is to refine crucial elements of their sprinting techniques while competing against elite swimmers from various countries, preparing them for the upcoming challenges in their competitive calendar.
