Lithuanian Prime Minister I. Ruginienė emphasized the need for strengthened collective security in Europe amid ongoing threats from Russia during discussions with Czech President P. Pavel.
During a recent visit to Lithuania, Czech President Petr Pavel and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė discussed the vital bilateral relations between their countries. Prime Minister Šimonytė highlighted the persistent threat posed by Russia to Europe, underlining the importance of enhancing collective security and resilience among ally nations. She asserted that it is imperative for Europe to increase pressure on Russia, which continues to show aggression and is unwilling to halt its military operations in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister acknowledged and expressed gratitude for the Czech Republic's contribution to Baltic security, particularly through its participation in NATO's enhanced forward presence in Lithuania. This collaboration is seen as a critical element of maintaining security along NATO’s eastern flank, which is considered essential for the overall safety of Europe. The discussions also reinforced the commitment of both countries to work closely together in addressing regional security challenges and geopolitical threats.
