DNIT establishes traffic rules during construction of the Jequitinhonha River bridge; check it out

The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) has announced new traffic rules for vehicles crossing the Jequitinhonha River bridge in Itapebi, Bahia, due to ongoing construction work.

The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) has informed that starting at 8 AM on Monday, October 16, new traffic regulations will be implemented on the bridge over the Jequitinhonha River, located on BR-101 in the town of Itapebi in southern Bahia. These changes are being enacted to facilitate construction efforts on a new bridge and come as a result of technical analysis and ongoing monitoring of traffic conditions.

Under the new regulations, light vehicles, vans, microbuses, buses, and trucks with a maximum of three axles and a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of up to 33 tons will be allowed to cross the bridge at any time. Additionally, empty cargo transport vehicles will also be permitted, though weight checks will be enforced at both ends of the bridge. Meanwhile, vehicles that do not meet these specified criteria will temporarily be prohibited from crossing, ensuring safety and management of the ongoing construction works.

These changes aim to minimize traffic disruption while the bridge is being constructed, highlighting the importance of infrastructure improvements in facilitating travel and transport in the region. By establishing clear rules, DNIT seeks to ensure that the flow of traffic remains as smooth as possible during this crucial period, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining safety and efficiency on Brazil's roads.
