Man from Panevėžys arrested in courtroom after harsh sentence

A man from Panevėžys was arrested in a courtroom following a severe sentence related to drug offenses.

A resident of Panevėžys, identified as A.K., was arrested in a courtroom after learning of a harsh sentence tied to his drug offenses. Earlier, it was discovered that he had been acquiring cocaine while serving time for other crimes in Belgium. The prosecution was led by Mindaugas Rimkus from the Panevėžys District Prosecutor's Office, focusing on organized crime and corruption.

The investigation revealed that A.K. had been illegally storing a significant amount of drugs, including MDMA, ketamine, methamphetamine, and cocaine, with the intent to distribute. Law enforcement officials caught A.K. in the act of delivering 0.783 g of cocaine to another resident of Panevėžys, A.Ž., on the night of April 11, 2024. Authorities also discovered that he left behind an additional 0.786 g of cocaine in a location known for drug drop-offs in the Panevėžys region.

This case highlights the ongoing issues of drug trafficking and organized crime in Lithuania, as law enforcement continues their efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks. A.K.'s arrest serves as a reminder of the severe consequences faced by individuals involved in such criminal activities, especially when they are already under legal scrutiny for previous offenses.
