See how the bus of players from América-SP that was sold and will be restored will look

The iconic bus used to transport players of the América-SP football team is set to be restored, honoring the family's transport company.

The Marcopolo III bus, which served as the transport for the América-SP football players from 2008 to 2017, is undergoing restoration after being sold to a businessman in Artur Nogueira, SP. The restoration will pay homage to Viação Capatto, a transport company owned by the family of Leonardo Capatto, whose grandfather originally started the business. The bus will be painted in the company’s colors, serving as a tribute during the restoration process.

The bus, manufactured in 1982, has changed ownership several times before its connection with América-SP, first belonging to Viação Itamarati and later to Turística Rio Preto. The upcoming restoration aims to revive the bus's historic significance as it played a crucial role in transporting players for a local football team, thereby making it a sentimental piece of local sports history. A miniature model displayed by Leonardo Capatto showcases how the restored bus will ultimately look.

The restoration work will take place at the family’s garage, equipped with a fleet of 40 buses and staffed by professionals skilled in various maintenance areas, ensuring a thorough and respectful restoration process. This initiative not only preserves a fragment of local sports heritage but also reaffirms the family's long-standing involvement in the transportation sector, providing a deeper connection to the community and its history.
