Suspect filmed before robbing and sexually assaulting woman is arrested in Bahia
A man suspected of robbing and sexually assaulting a woman in Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, has been arrested just one day after the crime.
A man suspected of robbing and sexually assaulting a woman in Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, was arrested on Wednesday, just a day after the incident occurred. Security footage shows the moment the victim was approached by the suspect as she walked down the street. The suspect allegedly chased her, grabbed her by the neck, and led her to a side street where the assault took place. During the robbery, the victim's cellphone was stolen, highlighting the premeditated nature of the crime.
According to the Civil Police, the suspect threatened the victim with a knife during the attack. Following the arrest, authorities recovered the weapon and small quantities of crack cocaine at the suspect's residence. Additionally, the suspect disclosed where he had disposed of the clothing he wore during the crime, which has been collected to assist in the ongoing investigation and confirm his involvement.
The suspect has since been taken to the Special Women's Assistance Center (Neam), where he will remain in custody pending legal proceedings. The police are continuing their investigations to strengthen their case against him, which underscores the importance of addressing violent crimes against women and enhancing public safety measures in the region.
