Decree formalizes the creation of Fatec in Limeira; classes are set to start in 2027, says City Hall
The government of São Paulo has officially established a new technology college in Limeira, with free classes expected to begin in 2027.
The São Paulo government has officially declared the creation of the Faculdade de Tecnologia de Limeira (Fatec Limeira) through a decree published in the official gazette. As reported by the local city hall, the new institution is expected to offer free courses in Information Technology beginning in the first semester of 2027. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing educational opportunities in the region, particularly in a field that is increasingly vital in today's economy.
The college will be located in the premises of an old technology incubator on Avenida Luiz Guerra Filho, situated within the Technology Park of Limeira, which has remained unused for over nine years. The city's municipality is tasked with renovating this building, while the state government has committed R$ 30 million toward the establishment of the college. This partnership between local and state governments reflects an effort to invest in higher education and technological development within the municipality, aiming to attract students and foster innovation.
The establishment of Fatec Limeira under the purview of the Centro Paula Souza (CPS) is indicative of a broader strategy to decentralize educational resources and infrastructure. CPS, a public institution known for its technical and technological education across the state, will oversee the operation and funding of the college. This move is anticipated to not only enhance the local educational landscape but also boost the regional economy by producing graduates equipped with skills for the technology sector.
