Defender and City Hall of Limeira inaugurate service to assist women in situations of violence

The public defender's office in São Paulo inaugurates a new service in Limeira to provide assistance to women experiencing violence, in partnership with the city hall.

The Public Defender's Office of São Paulo has inaugurated a new service in Limeira dedicated to supporting women facing violence, in collaboration with the local city government. This initiative marks a significant step towards decentralizing assistance, making it more accessible to those in need. The service will operate out of the Citizen Care Center located at Av. Dr. Lauro Corrêa da Silva and will provide bi-weekly appointments. On its opening day, twenty appointments will be available, with subsequent sessions hosting five appointments every two weeks.

Flavia Stringari Machado, the coordinator of the Public Defender's Office in Limeira, emphasized that the goal of this initiative is to bridge the gap between the public defender's services and the local population. By establishing this decentralized service, the program is strategically located near other social support services, enhancing its accessibility. Importantly, the service is open to all women experiencing violence, regardless of their income level, underlining the commitment to universal access.

This launch represents an important advancement in the fight against gender-based violence, providing crucial resources and support for vulnerable women in Limeira. By making these services readily available in the community, the initiative not only addresses immediate needs but also sends a broader message about the importance of supporting women's rights and promoting safety within society.
