On the tour of 'connection with fans', two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge will run the marathon in Porto Alegre
Kenyan marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge will start a global tour in 2026 to connect with fans, including a stop at the Porto Alegre Marathon in Brazil.
Eliud Kipchoge, the Olympic marathon champion from Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and again in Tokyo in 2021, is set to embark on a worldwide tour starting in 2026. This tour aims to establish a stronger connection with his fans across the globe. At 41 years old, Kipchoge is regarded by experts as one of the greatest marathon runners of all time, covering the traditional 42.195 km distance. During the next two and a half years, he will visit all continents and participate in seven selected marathons, which marks a significant part of his global initiative.
The first marathon on this ambitious project is scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on May 24, 2026. Following that, Kipchoge is slated to run in the Porto Alegre Marathon on July 12, 2026, which is an exciting prospect for marathon enthusiasts and fans in Brazil. The marathon will kick off at Parque da Redenção and conclude at Parque Maurício Sirotsky Sobrinho, popularly known as Parque Harmonia, a notable landmark in the city. This event will not only be part of his connection with fans but also likely attract a considerable number of participants and spectators.
Currently, there are already 16,500 registered participants for the Porto Alegre Marathon, which will also feature various distance options, including 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km runs.
