Historic acquisition of a building in Athens by the Ecumenical Patriarchate

The Ecumenical Patriarchate has acquired a building in Athens, marking its first such purchase in the city.

On Wednesday, the transfer of ownership of a building to the office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Athens was signed, representing a historic advancement for the Patriarchate in Greece. The acquisition is attributed to the tireless efforts of His Eminence Metropolitan Theodoritos of Laodicea, alongside significant contributions from benefactors Athanasios Martinos and Nikolaos Patiras, with the National Bank selling the property at a favorable price for the Patriarchate.

This marks the first building that the Ecumenical Patriarchate has purchased in Athens, which, together with a neighboring building provided by the EFKA (Social Security Agency), is being renovated by Archon Athanasios Martinos. The development aims to create a distinguished architectural complex that will promote culture in the area, indicating a commitment by the Patriarchate to enhance its presence and cultural contribution within Greece.

The signing event highlighted the collaborative efforts of several key figures, including the Metropolitan of Laodicea, the CEO of the National Bank, and the benefactors, symbolizing a new chapter for the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Greece. This acquisition not only strengthens the Patriarchate's roots in Athens but also reflects the growing support from the community and benefactors towards its cultural and religious mission.
