Education workers from the municipal network in Ananindeua, located in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, staged a protest by blocking a section of the BR-316 highway on Wednesday morning. This protest reflects the ongoing strike of the municipal education workers, which has been aimed at securing a meeting with the city hall to discuss pressing issues. The blockade on the highway began around 10 AM, causing significant congestion due to its status as a major route between Belém and the surrounding municipalities.

The protest disrupted traffic until around noon when the protesters were able to meet with the vice-mayor of Ananindeua, Hugo Atayde, thus allowing the road to be cleared. During this meeting, the movement's representatives sought to engage with city officials concerning their demands, which include a call for increased salaries and improved working conditions. The strike, as indicated by the Union of Public Education Workers of Pará (Sintepp), involved approximately 200 professionals and showcases the ongoing struggles faced by education workers in Brazil.
