On Tuesday morning, education professionals in Rio Branco conducted a protest in front of the city hall, demanding salary adjustments for the last three years. They are advocating for the implementation of a salary floor that has been extended by 15.29%. This demonstration highlights the ongoing struggle of education workers to secure fair compensation amidst rising living costs, asserting their rights to a reasonable salary increase that reflects their dedication and the requirements of their roles.
The protesters are also calling for a reformulation of the Plan for Career, Jobs, and Remuneration (PCCR), which governs their pay and job conditions. Reginaldo Barreto, director of information and press at the Acre Education Workers' Union (Sinteac), indicated that the category had previously discussed these issues with the municipal secretary of education, Alysson Bestene.
