A Strange Sight in the Sky Over Helsinki - Here's Why
A spring storm is expected to arrive in Finland over the upcoming weekend, bringing strong winds and possible rain.
Finland is preparing for an incoming spring storm this weekend, as reported by meteorologist Joonas Koskela from Foreca. As the week progresses, the winds are predicted to pick up in intensity, potentially reaching storm levels over western marine areas by Friday. Despite the foreboding forecast, Koskela reassures that the strongest winds will likely remain over the sea, with the west coast and parts of Lapland possibly experiencing stronger gusts. However, he notes that this storm does not seem to be exceptionally powerful.
In Helsinki, residents are currently observing a hazy sky due to mild air from the south bringing moisture, contributing to a somewhat polluted atmosphere. During Wednesday and Thursday, the weather is expected to fluctuate with overcast skies, but it will not lead to fog. While Wednesday may remain mostly clear, some light rain showers could occur at higher latitudes in Oulu. Residents in central and southern Finland may see some precipitation in the evening as cloud cover increases throughout the day.
Looking towards Thursday, increased cloud cover will make it a rainier day across the country, with rain moving through Finland almost entirely. This weather change signifies a shift towards more typical spring conditions, with the mix of moisture and scattered rain, contributing to the ever-changing Finnish weather landscape that the residents continually navigate.
