Storm gusts hit at night

Finland will experience an unusual warm weekend, though some areas will face storms and rain, particularly in northern regions due to a low-pressure area in the North Atlantic.

This weekend in Finland is expected to be relatively warm for the season, but the weather will also include rain and storms in certain areas, as reported by Foreca's weather blog. A large area of low pressure over the North Atlantic is expected to impact Finland, bringing precipitation primarily to the western coastal regions and northern parts of the country. Particularly, Central and Northern Lapland may see snowfall between 1 to 10 centimeters.

Temperatures are projected to hover around 1 to 5 degrees Celsius on Friday evening and overnight, except for Northwestern Lapland, where temperatures may drop near freezing. Late Friday evening and into Saturday morning, stormy winds are expected to move from the west towards the Bay of Bothnia, with gusts strengthening in Lapland, where local storm gusts may occur. The windy conditions in Lapland are anticipated to persist into the early hours of the morning, according to Foreca.

Additionally, Foreca notes that the boundary between warm and cool air masses will cut across Finland over the weekend, creating a zone of precipitation that will sweep from the southwestern parts of the country towards Kainuu and Koillisma, indicating continued active weather patterns as the spring season unfolds. This weather phenomenon could have implications for outdoor activities and safety in the affected areas, highlighting the need for people to remain aware of changing conditions during this transitional season.
