New law may prohibit residents from requiring delivery personnel to enter condominium in Uberlândia; understand

A new law in Uberlândia prohibits residents from demanding that delivery workers enter condominium properties, aiming to enhance security and respect for these workers.

The Municipal Chamber of Uberlândia has recently approved a new law that will prevent residents and consumers from requiring delivery personnel to enter internal areas of vertical condominiums or to ascend to the doors of apartments and businesses. According to the proposal, deliveries must now take place at the building's front office or at a previously defined location set by the condominium administration. This new regulation, which will soon be sent for the mayor's approval, is intended to streamline the delivery process and enhance the safety and organization of service workers in the area.

This legislative measure addresses deliveries made by workers associated with digital platforms as well as independent service providers within residential and commercial vertical condominiums. The aim of the proposal is to create a safer environment for both the delivery workers and the residents, reducing the potential for conflict or discomfort that can arise when workers are required to navigate the interiors of these private spaces. The ordinance reflects an ongoing effort to ensure that delivery personnel are treated with respect and can perform their duties without unnecessary complications.

Proposed by city councilman Fabão from the Green Party (PV), the project received overwhelming support, passing unanimously in a symbolic vote during the seventh regular meeting of March. During the plenary session, Fabão highlighted various instances of hostility that delivery professionals often encounter, emphasizing the need for such protective measures to enhance their working conditions and, by extension, improve the overall delivery experience for consumers in the region.
