A significant percentage of Spanish parents are giving their children melatonin based solely on advice from non-professionals, raising concerns about its usage and safety.

Recent discussions at the XXXIV Annual Meeting of the Spanish Sleep Society in Granada have highlighted alarming trends regarding the administration of melatonin to children. A study presented revealed that 33% of Spanish families administer melatonin to their children based on recommendations from friends, family, or information found online, without consulting medical professionals.
