'If the cart runs in the day, only then will we have food at home at night', the helplessness of a pav bhaji vendor
Street food vendors in Jaipur are facing a crisis due to a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, leading to increased prices and some shops threatening closure.
In Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, the scarcity of commercial LPG cylinders has severely impacted small and medium businesses, particularly street food vendors who are struggling to survive. Many vendors have been forced to raise their prices significantly due to the high costs associated with acquiring gas. For instance, a popular street food vendor known as 'Mama Paratha' revealed that he recently paid 2100 rupees for a commercial cylinder on the black market, prompting a price increase for his offerings. Similarly, 'Madhav Dosa' has increased the price of their dosa by 10 rupees due to the escalation in gas prices.
