Roots reached the quarterfinals in doubles in Sharm El Sheikh

Andrea Roots and her partner Yuzuha Negishi secured a place in the quarterfinals of the W15 tournament in Sharm El Sheikh after a tight match.

Estonian tennis player Andrea Roots, alongside her partner Yuzuha Negishi from Japan, advanced to the quarterfinals of the W15 tournament held in Sharm El Sheikh. They won their opening match against the third-seeded duo of Nicole Gadient from Switzerland and Madhurima Sawanti. The match was intensely competitive, concluding with a score of 6:3, 5:7, 10:8, after Roots and Negishi initially led in the second set before relinquishing their 4:1 advantage.

In the decisive super tiebreak, Roots and Negishi started strong with a 4:0 lead but faced a comeback from their opponents, who leveled the score at 4:4 and even took the lead at 8:7. However, the Estonian-Japanese pair regained their composure at a critical moment, rallying to win the final three points and secure their spot in the quarterfinals. They are set to face the Chinese pair of Yiru Chen and Ma Ruoxi in the next round.

Unfortunately for Roots, her singles campaign did not progress as she lost in the qualification round to Belgium's Sara Pantelic with a score of 4:6, 0:6. This doubles success highlights the emerging talent of Roots on the international tennis circuit, despite her struggles in singles competition.
